Winter skin-care tips

Along with winter we also welcome several skin problems like dryness, paleness, etc. Its the most beautiful time of the year and none of us want to spend it with all these skin issues…

Here are a few things that i do  to protect my skin from the cold weather….

  1. C.T.M (CLEANSE TONE & MOISTURIZE) : No matter what season it is you must always follow the C.T.M mantra to enjoy healthy, clean and glowing skin.

CLEANSING- Its the first step in skincare. In winters, you can limit the number of times you wash your face from 3 times to 2 times and alternatively cleanse your face with cold milk and cotton ball to prevent excessive dryness.

TONING- Always use a  mild toner that suits your skin type, instead of one loaded with chemicals.  Toning will remove the post-cleansing residual dirt from your face. Toning not only tightens your skin but also prepares it for the moisturizer.

MOISTURIZING- Moisturizing is not just essential for very dry and flaky skin , but regular skin type must indulge in this routine too. If you are not for chemical-laden products, then you could go for any of the natural moisturizers like almond oil or extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil..

2) Keep yourself hydrated- Drink plenty of water since you must keep you body and skin hydrated in the dry weather. One must at least have 7-8 glasses of water everyday. You will instantly notice your skin looking healthy…

3) Slather the sunscreen: It may not be very sunny during winters but the UV rays still manage to peep in through the clouds and harm your skin. Hence, dont find excuses to not wear the sunscreen

4) Face packs you must try : There are so many ingredients around that help your skin look soft and supple.

a) Aloe-vera : Its known for its incredible moisturizing properties. You can use aloe-vera gel as a moisturizer and it will leave your skin looking soft and healthy. You can either use the gel directly from the plant if its available near you or you can invest in an organic gel.

b) Banana Face mask : Mashed ripe banana is a great moisturizing agent. Take 4 to 5 tablespoons of mashed ripe banana and massage it on the face. Rinse it off after 10 minutes and give your face some massage with honey, go in circular motions for that extra moisturizing feel. Do so for at least 10 minutes and finish off with a toner.

5) Invest in a good Lip balm: If you suffer from chapped lips during winter like i do, go ahead and get a good natural lip balm. You also try exfoliating the dead skin with a natural sugar and coconut oil scrub, it’ll leave your lips looking soft and plump…

I hope you all found this post helpful…if there’s anything else you do to take care of your skin in winter do let me know in the comments down below… Thankyou! 🙂

Goals for 2018

Its the start of a new year and here’s another opportunity for all of us to make this year very productive and special at the same time… Like others  I’ve  set some goals  that i’m willing to achieve by the end of this year…

One thing that you must know when you set goals is that you need to be practical and only set goals that are achievable. Instead of weaving dreams in the air make a resolution that would have significance and add a meaning to your life.  Less is more, prioritize you goals and accordingly work towards it.

Here are a few goals that I’ll be working on this year…

  1.  Fit in Fitness-I enjoy working out in fresh air, taking long walks or going out for a run. This year I’m going to make that a routine activity which will help me stay fit and beat stress.
  2. Healthy Hogging- My eating habits have gone for a toss since the time I’ve started senior college and its high time that i start eating healthy. Hence, this year i plan on eating healthy food and staying away from all the junk that I’ve been consuming…
  3. Being more Organized- I’ve always been the kind of person who enjoys being organized but somehow towards the end o 2017 i felt extremely lazy and i felt a need to change urgently. Hence, this year i want to get back to being organized…
  4. Learn a new language- Learning new languages has always been my hobby, so this year i thought i should invest my spare time in doing something i love and something that’ll help me in the future.
  5. Maintain a balance- It is extremely important to strike a balance between anything and everything you do. Until last year i was only focusing on my College and neglected my hobbies  but this year i am going to try my level best to give both equal attention.

People change with time, so do their aspirations. Seriously taken,  new year resolutions are an opportunity to gauge our goals. I hope you guys enjoyed reading some of my resolutions. I would love to know what your resolutions are so don’t forget to comment down below…. Hope you all have a happy 2018 and make the most out of it…. Thank-you! 🙂

Especially during summers… This season comes with its own set of  activities, right from flea markets to weekend brunches to casual days out with friends, every occasion is incomplete without looking trendy and feeling comfy at the same time…

I have compiled some of my favourite outfits that made this summer even more elegant and dazzling…

2.Bodysuits: This summer bodysuits have been everywhere. It’s the perfect trend to take you from studio to work to bar. Bodysuits can be worn with a variety of bottoms such as jeans, skirts, palazzos, sweatpants etc. I combined the two bodysuits from my wardrobe with palazzos and jeans for getting the perfect summer daytime look.

Mesh tops: These have been the biggest trend this summer after supermodels Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid wore them. These are just perfect for concerts or when you go out clubbing. I wore my Mesh top with a black jeans and white sneakers and absolutely loved the look!

Dungaree Dress: Another personal favourite look for this years summers was the Dungaree dress worn with a cute bodysuit or tee. They are just perfect when it comes to weekend flea markets or brunches. They are super comfortable to wear in the scroching heat, apart from that these can be worn with different coloured tees or bodysuit.

10 Beauty Hacks Every Girl Should Know

There are plenty of obstacles to overcome our daily hair and beauty regime. Frizzy hair, chipped nailpolish, smudged mascara, none of us are a fan of these.  So i did a little research and came across some of these hacks which are super easy. Here are 10 tricks that will make your life easier …..

Take your eye makeup from a sleek daytime look to something sexier by smudging your liner with a cotton swab to diffuse it into a smokey eye look.

Hide a manicure thats growing out by creating an ombre effect starting at the base of your nail. The best way to distract from a chipped overgrown nail is GLITTER. It looks pretty and lasts for a long time.

To get rid of your makeup quickly all you need to do is apply coconut oil or a cold cream to your face and massage it for 2minutes. Wipe the face with a cotton swab or a face wipe and wash with your regular face wash.

Nearly everyone suffers from dreaded mascara marks on our eyelids whilst applying. Place a spoon with the curve above or below the lashline to help avoid mascara residue

Chipping of nails can be very irritating, espicially when theres some big event coming up. To prevent nails from chipping keep your nails coated with a good quality nailpaint.

Eliminate puffy eyes by applying an ice pack for 5-10 minutes right after you wakeup

To accentuate long lashes use a cotton bud and apply baby powder to your top and bottom set of lashes. Once done, recoat the lashes  with mascara for fuller lashes.

To make the lipstick last longer, apply the lipstick, gently place a tissue paper on your lips and dab some pressed powder on the top on the tissue.

If you’ve washed your hair but dont have the energy to blow dry it, loosely twist your hair into a bun, secure it with a clip. When its dry untwist your hair and seperate the locks with your fingers for effortless waves.

Dry your newly painted nails super quickly by placing your nails in a bowl of ice cold water. The cold water makes the nailpaint settle quickly.

So i hope these 10 super easy beauty hacks have made your beauty regime a lot easier. If you found the post useful do give it a like and dont forget to hit the follow button for more.

Chocolate Cupcakes

A week ago i suddenly felt the urge to try and bake some cupcakes so after a lot of hardwork and watching various YouTube videos  i finally baked them and to my surprise they turned out to be really yummy, i made it again a few days later with my own variations and they also turned out to be pretty good. So i decided to share this quick and easy recipe with all of you….

2 room temperature Eggs

1/2 teaspoon of Baking soda and Baking powder

1/2 cup of Buttermilk OR 1/2 cup of Milk + 1/2 teaspoon of Vineger

1 stick of Butter

2oz. of semi sweet chocolate

3 quarter cups of Flour

1/2 cup of Cocoa powder

Quarter teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of Coffee powder (optional)

1/2 cup of powdered Sugar

1 teaspoon of Vanilla extract

 Vanilla Icing

Take the stick of butter and the chopped semi sweet chocolate in a bowl and heat it in the microwave with 30sec. intervals until it melts properly.

In a seperate bowl mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt and coffee powder.

In a seperate bowl crack in 2 eggs, add in the powered sugar and vanilla extract. Mix it well.

Add half of the flour mix to the mixture of eggs and mix it. Then add the buttermilk OR 1/2 cup of milk+ 1/2 teaspoon of vineger to the mixture and stir it well. Add the remaining flour mix along with the melted chocolate mixture and mix it well.

Scoop the mixture into the cupcake liners. (This recipe makes a dozen cupcakes.)

Bake it for 18mins at 350degrees in an oven. (i baked the cupcakes in a microwave for 3mins and it turned out really well )

Once the cupcakes are out of the oven let them cool completely.

I used readymade vanilla icing by Philsbury to ice the cupcakes and topped it with some shredded chocolate.

I hope you all find this blogpost helpful and i would absolutely love to see all of you trying this recipe and then sharing your opinions about it with me….Thankyou! 🙂

Review- The Body Shop

Let me start by saying that i have been a huge fan of ‘The Body Shop’ products since i was 14. I was introduced to this brand by my mother who is a massive fan herself. I have an extremely sensitive skin so there is a limitation to what products I can use but ‘The Body Shop’ products have worked out quite well for me and  I  enjoy pampering my skin with them.

That said….lets go with it 😀

1) Grape Seed Glossing Serum

I have been using this serum for a very long time now on regular basis and this one is something that i cant get rid of, it is one of my favourite products. It instantly gives my hair a natural looking shine. A little goes a long way. It makes my hair look smoother, shinier and it can be washed out easily.

2) Strawberry Body Mist

This fragrance takes on a new fresh form. Just a tiny amount of it is enough for a gentle burst of sweet frutiness. It can be used all over the body. It is light, fresh and irresistible.

3) White Musk Sumptuous Silk Shower Gel

This shower gel leaves skin softly scented with the ironic white musk fragrance. It is soap free. Just a perfect product to use if one enjoys the strong scent of musk.

4) Satsuma Puree Body Lotion

It is a light weight body lotion with a fresh citrus scent. It hydrates skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. It is easily absorbed and does not feel sticky on skin. I’ve also been using this one for over a year now and can’t find a better replacement to it.

I hope you all enjoyed my review and found it helpful. You can get all these products online or at  the ‘The Body Shop’ store. Do let me know which are your favourite products. Thankyou! 🙂

My Nail Colour Palette

Right from childhood I’ve been fond of nail paints and I’d always like to experiment new nail arts or colours on my nails. I’d always tell my mom or my aunt to apply it for me because I couldn’t apply it neatly back then. I was fond of buying different shades and I’d store them in a box that I had made for my nail paints. As time passed I gathered lots of nail colours. I also started watching nail art tutorials on YouTube and experiment them on my nails.

Recently about 2 weeks ago I threw away some unwanted, dried up nail colours. So after that what I got was a collection of 22 shades which are my favourite and which I use the most and it makes me so happy to share it with all of you.

Heres my little collection of nail paints ^_^ :

Whats in my collection?

  • You may notice that out of all the shades that i have most of the nail colours are the shades of red and pink. i think these shades suit me the most and they look good with almost everything in my closet. 1432548109131 (1)

  • I have 6 glitter nail lacquers. I think these are just perfect if you want to add a little spark to your nails. I use them when I’m trying different nail arts or sometimes I just apply them without any colour as a base.

  • Then I have  black, brown, white and a coral pink shade which i use the  most  because they look perfect with everything and they’re quality is amazing.
  • 1432547975740
  • The shades that I use the least are Neon Yellow and Bright Blue. I think these are way too wacky and I only use them once in a blue moon to make my nails look catchy.
  • . 1432547868079
  • Then comes the clear polish which i use to add gloss to my nails, protect them from chipping and  to make my nail art last longer.

So this is what my tiny nail paint collection consists of. I hope you all liked it, do let me know which shade is your favourite in the comments down below and dont forget to hit the follow button for more fun stuff. Thankyou! 😀
